Who wants to be the best?

It's obvious - everyone! :-) So everyone took part in the Olympics which  were held in our school! There was one basic difference, however. We didn't want to find out who's the best swimmer, runner or jumper :-) The purpose was to find those who are the best at English!!! So, not muscles but brains, not trainers but pens, not tracksuits but... I don't know :-) something else... :-)

And who are the champions...? :-D
To find out go to:

St Andrew's Day

It's Scotland's national day. This year my students learnt about this special day for the Scots. Now they know who St Andrew was, how he got to Scotland (I mean his bones) and why the Scottish flag looks like it looks  :-)

We also watched a documentary about St Andrew

and an animated story about his life

HAPPY ST ADNREW'S DAY!!!

The songs we like - "While your lips are still red" by Nightwish

During one of our English lessons in lower secondary school Europejskie Gimnazjum we listened to this very beautiful song.
The song was written in 2007 by Tuomas Holopainen and Marco Hietala of the Finnish metal quintet Nightwish. It was performed by Holopainen, Hietala, and Jukka Nevalainen for the Finnish film Lieksa!, which was written and directed by renowned Finnish director Markku Pölönen; the film premiered in Finland in September 2007. The song is included on Nightwish's "Amaranth" single, which was released on 22 August 2007 as the second single of their sixth studio album, "Dark Passion Play". It was also released on their live / compilation EP "Made in Hong Kong (And in Various Other Places)" in 2009.
The official music video of the song contains clips from the film Lieksa!, Hietala singing, and Holopainen walking behind him. The video was released on YouTube on 14 June 2007.

(The students' task was to translate the lyrics into Polish :-)

Just listen to it!

And the winners are...

Nikola Tomaszewska, Bartosz Mączyński and Mateusz Lickindorf took the first place in the competition. It was impossible to choose just one person :-)
Patrycja Małdrzykowska, Jagoda Paszkiewicz and Daniel Tsivinskas finished in the second place.
Congratulations! You're really great!

There's no Patrycja Małdrzykowska in the photos because she was somewhere in the school and she had something very important to do :-)

Ok, just look at your results - round after round there were fewer students in the battlefield!
